Summer of My German Soldier (Summary)

I have always been a fan of historical fiction and there is no doubt that the event of the Holocaust fits right in. But see "fitting in" is the argument that this tragic event was about and just that one concept took contact with millions of Jewish peoples lives. You and me are two different people, we look differently, talk differently and probably think differently. The fact is, no one is exactly alike. That being said, "fitting in" should take no effect on the way society runs. However, that is just my opinion. In the 1930s, the Germans believed differently. I have just started what has begun to be a pretty amazing book. It is called Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene. It is about Patty, a 12 year-old, Jewish girl in the ear of the war. She lives in a town called Jenkinsville where even the littlest spectacle means that the town's operator and most of the people are gathered around a train station where they see two Nazi prisoners get locked up in their prison. The matter is, because her parents are fixing up an old shop, she is with Ruth, a black Christian woman who works as their maid for most of the time. What makes her time with Ruth so important is that Ruth is a free spirited individual who believes in what she decides to. So far, this book is about what it was like to live as a Jew during the Holocaust. It is about the bonds between two different races and believes. I have really enjoyed reading this book so far and it has a strong base to the events in World War 2.
